STATE FINALS WEEKEND 2025
PROUD TO HOST THE NORCAL STATE FINALS
It's a Wrap!
A note from Nathan Johanson:
Well, the 2025 Northern California State Finals is done and dusted! It's an incredible amount of work, but as always the Monday after brings some much needed rest, reflection, a sense of accomplishment, and an overwhelming sense of gratitude for everyone who traveled, raced and watched, and the army of volunteers who pitched in to make it happen. We had no idea going into it what kind of turnout we would have, and you guys smashed expectations by tallying 146 motos in a year where the numbers have been trending down. The other thing we all noticed... the vibe and the mood through the entirety of the weekend was all positive. The smiles and fist pumps were in full force! And by the way, did anyone notice that this may have been the best finals weekend of weather in recent years? It cooled down just time and even graced us with a breeze from time to time. Thanks racers and your families for spending the weekend with us and thanks for all of your support year to date.
As for the volunteer core, we've been singling out some herculean efforts of individuals over the last few weeks leading into finals but man...the efforts only intensified and the names of people we'd like to thank has increased exponentially. Aside from our signed up volunteers, we also had several people through the weekend step in spontaneously whether it was flipping burgers or sticking numbers on state plates. Matt Cravenho and River City Rentals once again came through in a pinch, Dillon Peterson racked up some serious hours and willingly tackled any project we threw at him, Rachel Bostock volunteered in the medic tent... there was the trash team and die hard core of volunteers rounded out by Christina Cowley, Misty Privett, Amanda Walker, Tiffany Erickson, and Jon Holmberg that stuck around after most people had cleared out to pick up those last bags of trash... We had the announcers, scorers, stagers, parking and camping attendants, snack bar crew, raffle and 50/50 crew, the closing ceremony crew, the list is endless. We sincerely appreciate all of you. Finally, as for the snafu with the awards, we were all sick about this on Saturday night when it became increasingly clear we weren't going to get the missing boxes in time. Not the best night of sleep! On Sunday morning Jeremy and Tara Strouse even stalked the FedEx facility in Tracy, CA, talked with a security guard, and rattled a few doors only to find out the facility was closed for the weekend. We appreciate Nick @ Stay Rad Awards for helping make it right. We were bracing ourselves... maybe concerned this would dampen an otherwise beautiful weekend, but the bomb we thought might drop, didn't drop. Amazing. We have some logistics to work out and a lot of work to do to make it right and get the awards into people's hands. You can rest assured this will happen. Look forward to more progress posts in the ensuing days and weeks.
